The New York Times extended the TimesPeople social networking features across the site last night, adding a layer of Digg-esque recommendation and rating to its news stories. It's a free service designed to encourage users to spend more time on the site and drive up the number of ad page views.

My experience is that if a journalist is doing research on a board they identify themselves and ask if they can contact some of the posters for possible inclusion in the article. I feel it's inappropriate to quote someone without their permission, even if it is a pseudonym. Am I overreacting? Do you think this is violation of board etiquette or journalistic ethics?"
